What’s the difference between Chipolo Plus and Chipolo Classic key finder?

Are you wondering what model of Chipolo key finder you have, or which one would be better to buy?

UPDATE: The Chipolo CLASSIC and Chipolo PLUS key finder models were discontinued at the end of 2019 and replaced with the new Chipolo ONE.

The new Chipolo ONE key finder combines the best features from the 2 previous models.

At the same time, the Chipolo app was updated with a highly requested feature that prevents you from forgetting your keys, without any additional cost or monthly subscription (more on that below!).

The new Chipolo ONE key finder has been available since the beginning of 2020 and comes with:

1. A louder sound

With a ring volume that can go up to 120 dB, Chipolo ONE can easily be heard from another room or from under a pile of clothes.

2. Longer battery life

The key finder uses a standard coin battery, model CR2032 that is available online and in most stores that offer AA batteries.

3. Replaceable battery

Any user can replace the battery on the new Chipolo in 3 simple steps.

Use your fingernails or insert a smaller tool into the small gap on the side of the Chipolo and carefully open the device. Replace the battery with a new CR2032 type battery, placing the battery positive side up. Close your Chipolo by aligning the top holes on both lids.

4. Water resistance

The Chipolo can take a rainy day and is water-resistant up to IPX5 standards.

5. Out of Range Alerts - New feature!

The Chipolo ONE is the finder with a reminder!

The Out of Range Alerts will ping and show a text notification on your phone when you leave your keys or any other item behind, so you can go back and get them before it’s too late.

The new Chipolo ONE has the alerts enabled by default, but they can also be used with the Chipolo CARD wallet finder and the previous models of Chipolo CLASSIC and PLUS.

What model is my Chipolo?

There are a few subtle differences between the 3 key finders that can help you tell them apart.

Chipolo ONE has slightly rounded edges and the speaker hole is located at the side of the key finder.

Chipolo PLUS is slightly bigger in size and has 3 tiny speaker holes on the back, at the bottom.

Chipolo CLASSIC has a small speaker hole in the last 'o' of the 'Chipolo' logo on the front and a tiny oblong groove on the side where you can open your Chipolo to replace the battery.
