Each Chipolo you connected to your phone can display a few different notification icons that will let you know if that particular Chipolo is being shared, has a low battery or is unable to fully function because some permissions might be missing.
Below we’ve listed every icon that can see displayed next to your Chipolo and what each one means.
Low battery warning
The small batteries in the Chipolo Bluetooth trackers can last anywhere between 9 months to 2 years, depending on what model your Chipolo is.
The current Chipolo ONE model and the previous Chipolo CLASSIC model both have a replaceable battery, while the Chipolo CARD and the discontinued Chipolo PLUS do not have a replaceable battery.
Depending on which model you have, you will see on of these two icons pop up when the battery in your Chipolo key finder gets low:
Replace your battery
If you need to replace the battery on your Chipolo ONE or Chipolo CLASSIC, a small round, red icon will appear in the top right corner of the Chipolo icon.
Replace the battery inside the Chipolo as soon as possible to keep your Chipolo connected and tracking your things.
Chipolo ONE: Battery lasts up to 2 years. Replace the battery inside with a coin shaped CR2032 battery.
Chipolo CLASSIC: Battery lasts up to 9 months. Replace the battery inside with a coin shaped CR2025 battery.
Recycle & Renew your Chipolo
If the battery on your Chipolo CARD or PLUS gets low, a small round green icon will appear in the top right corner of the Chipolo icon.
The batteries on the Chipolo CARD and PLUS cannot be replaced, so you will need to replace the entire tracker instead. Both models are included in the Chipolo Renew & Recycle program, where you can buy a new Chipolo of your choice with a 50% discount and send your old Chipolo back to us for recycling, free of charge.
Chipolo CARD: Battery lasts up to 1 year. The battery inside is a non-replaceable custom-made lithium-ion battery we created to ensure the wallet tracker is as thin as possible.
Chipolo PLUS: Battery lasts up to 1 year. The battery inside is a coin shaped CR2031 battery that is welded shut and cannot be replaced by the user.
Shared Chipolo
If you share a Chipolo with your loved ones through the Chipolo app, you will notice a small round grey icon in the bottom right corner of the Chipolo icon.
The same icon will also appear in the Chipolo app of the person you are sharing the Chipolo with.
Restricted permissions
iOS users may sometimes also see a small round red icon with an exclamation mark appear in the top right corner of the Chipolo icon.
The exclamation mark icon will appear when a permission is disabled and your Chipolo cannot function normally or has limited access to the phone’s internal features.
If for example, the Motion & Fitness is disabled on your iPhone, the Chipolo will not be able to trigger the Out of Range Alerts that let you know if you ever leave your keys or wallet behind.
