Google’s Find My Device app – How it works
If you’ve ever searched for your lost phone by typing in ‘Find My Phone’ into Chrome, you’ve already used the Find My Device app by Google.
It was primarily used to help you find your phone, but it has now been updated to help you find other Bluetooth devices, for example, your earphones and the Chipolo Point finders.
While the Find My Device is also available for Android phones, it is not automatically installed on your phone, like Apple’s Find My app is on iPhones.
The app has different features that will help you find your misplaced keys, for example, Play sound and last known location on a map, but it is the global Android community behind the app that most people are interested in.
Android is the most widely used mobile operating system, installed on numerous devices by different companies, which gives Google the opportunity to create a truly global network of Android devices that can help you search for lost things no matter where they end up.
Chipolo Point and Android compatibility
Chipolo Point finders work exclusively on Android devices with Google’s Find My device app. You will not be able to use it on Apple devices or with other Android finding apps.
Your Android device must be running Android 9 or later, have Bluetooth enabled, and have Google Play Services installed.
