Finding misplaced stuff nearby

Play Sound

When your item finder is close enough to your phone to stay connected through Bluetooth, you can make your misplaced things ring with a tap in the Find My app. The ring range can vary depending on obstacles but it usually stretches up to 60 meters (200 feet).

The Play Sound feature is especially handy for finding smaller things like car keys and wallets that can get lost in the wrong pocket, your big bag, or in the creases of your couch.

Stop sound

Found your stuff? No need to use the Find My app on your iPhone, just press the button on your Chipolo Spot to stop its ringing.

There’s a button hiding inside your Chipolo ONE Spot that enables you to add your ONE Spot to the Find My app when you’re connecting it for the first time, but you can also use it to stop its ringing when you find your things.

On the CARD Spot wallet finder, the button is also visible from the outside – just look for the dot in the bottom left corner and press it!

The ‘Stop Sound from your Spot’ feature is available for all Chipolo Spot finders but does not work with AirTags (no button!)

UWB tracking

Ultra-wideband tracking is like a high-precision GPS for your stuff when they hide indoors.

Through it, the Find My app gives you visual and haptic feedback when you’re within about 30 feet (10 meters) of your lost item. In the Find My app on your iPhone, you'll see an arrow pointing you in the right direction, and your iPhone might even vibrate as you get closer.

UWB tracking is useful but still very limited at the moment; it is only supported in Apple’s AirTags and only works with iPhones that have a U1 chip (iPhone 11 or newer).

Tracking things far away

Last known location

This feature can be a lifesaver that will help you track down your things when they get lost outside your phone’s Bluetooth range.

It works by recording the last known location your Chipolo Spot or AirTag was connected to your phone through Bluetooth and displaying it on a map in the app.

Lost Mode

In essence, Lost Mode is like sending out a call for a global search party for your lost item.

It's a powerful tool that can help you recover your valuables and give you peace of mind in stressful situations.

When activated, you'll receive a notification on your iPhone if the Find My network, which all iPhones are a part of, locates your lost item. This means that if any iPhone comes within Bluetooth range of your lost item, its location will be anonymously and securely relayed to you.

For AirTags, you can also add your phone number or email to the information about your tracker in the Find My app that will be displayed on the screen of the finder’s iPhone (if applicable) when they scan the tracker with their smartphone.

Find My app notifications: Your own reminder system

Forgetful much? Find My has some nifty tricks to keep you on track:

Notify When Left Behind:

No more worrying about forgetting your keys, wallet, or other essentials. The Find My app will remind you if you leave them behind.

This feature is your digital memory aid, gently reminding you to take your things with you when you’re about to leave your house without your keys or backpack.

The alert is triggered when your iPhone loses Bluetooth connection with the tracker and can be enabled or disabled for each Chipolo Spot or AirTag individually.

You can even designate certain places, like your home or office, as "safe locations." where the app won't send you notifications if you leave your item behind.

It's a simple yet incredibly useful feature that can make a big difference in your daily life.

Notify When Found

Left your wallet at the café? Turn on this feature, and you'll get a ping if another iPhone user walks by it.

The "Notify When Found" feature leverages the power of the vast Apple Find My network to help you locate your missing belongings. The feature can be enabled separately but it’s also automatically activated when you enable "Lost Mode."

When enabled, your lost Chipolo Spot or AirTag will send out a secure Bluetooth signal that other Apple devices in the Find My network can detect.

When another Apple device comes within range of your lost item, its location will be anonymously and securely relayed to you with a phone notification and an updated location on a map in the Find My app.

The person who found your item won't be notified, and their location remains private. It's a completely anonymous process, ensuring everyone's privacy.

Apple Find My’s extra finding features

Sharing is caring (and it helps with finding lost car keys)!

This feature is all about teamwork! It lets you share the location of your Spot or AirTag with friends and family, making it easier to keep track of shared belongings like car keys or help each other out in case something gets lost.

You can choose who you want to share your tracker with on an individual basis and send each person a ‘share invitation’ they have to accept before they can see your item's location in their own Find My app on their iPhone.

They will also be able to play a sound on the item if it's nearby or mark it as lost if it goes missing.

You can also stop sharing an item at any time, and you can choose whether to share its location history or just its current location.

Currently, sharing is only available between devices running iOS 17 or later.

Unknown Items Detected with You

In essence, this feature is a proactive safety feature that helps protect you from unwanted tracking.

All iPhones periodically scan for nearby unknown AirTags or other Find My network-compatible trackers that are separated from their owner. If your iPhone detects such a tracker moving with you for a longer time, you'll receive a notification on your device and the tracker will even start playing a sound so you can locate it.

In the notification, you’ll be able to see some basic information about the unknown tracker, such as its type (e.g., AirTag) and possibly its serial number. At the same time, the Find My app on your iPhone will also provide clear steps on how to identify and disable the unknown tracker.

At the moment, this feature is limited to Bluetooth trackers that work with the Apple Find My network or Google’s Find My Device network.

Identify a Found AirTag

Found an AirTag? The app can help identify its owner (and maybe even reunite them with their lost item!).

The feature uses NFC (Near-Field Communication) technology, which enables short-range communication between your iPhone and the AirTag you found.

When you hold the tracker near your iPhone the Find My app will automatically detect the AirTag and display a notification on your phone's screen. Tap on the notification to open a webpage that shows the AirTag's serial number and, if the owner has enabled Lost Mode, their contact information (such as a phone number or email address).

You can then use the provided contact information to reach out to the owner and arrange to return the AirTag to them.

Important note: This feature only works with NFC-enabled smartphones.

Find My Lock

When activated, Find My Lock requires your Apple ID and password to pair or re-pair the tracker with any device, keeping your Chipolo Spot or AirTag safe from unwanted pairing. It's a simple yet effective way to protect your belongings and ensure that your tracking information remains private.

This means that even if someone else finds your Chipolo Spot or AirTag, they won't be able to connect it to their own device and track its location.

The feature is also automatically enabled when you enable Lost Mode, which adds an extra layer of security, preventing anyone from tampering with the tracker.

You can enable or disable Find My Lock at any time in the Find My app.

So, let's get finding!

With Apple's Find My app and a Chipolo Spot or AirTag, you can turn those 'Where did I put that?' moments into a fun, stress-free finding experience.
