What is the range of Chipolo?
Chipolo works by connecting to the Bluetooth signal on your phone. Chipolo’s Bluetooth range can extend up to 200 ft (60 m) when there is a clear line of sight from your phone to the Chipolo.
How is this different from a GPS tracker?
If you want to see the location of an object or person (like your car, dog, child) at any time and also track his movement, you will need a GPS, but it will be far more expensive and you’ll have to charge the battery often.
If you need something that will help you find an item that is usually just misplaced somewhere around you (like keys, wallet, backpack or hiding cat), Bluetooth finder is the better choice, because it’s cheaper and you will have no hassle with the battery. Because of the limited range, you won’t be able to see the live location of your item if it’s far, but you will be able to see where you last had it, so you can go back and retrieve it. And with Out of Range Alerts, Chipolo will even remind you to take your items, so you don’t leave them behind in the first place.
Is my phone compatible with Chipolo?
Chipolo item finders are compatible with devices running iOS 14 and later, and devices running Android 9 and later. For Chipolo to work, the device must also be equipped with Bluetooth 4.0 or newer.
What exactly is imperfect about the Perfectly Imperfect CARD Spot?
The only difference between the regular edition of the Chipolo CARD Spot and the Perfectly Imperfect CARD Spot wallet tracker are the slightly discolored streaks on the plastic covers. The discolorations do not affect the strength or structural integrity of the covers or make them inferior in any way.
Why can’t you prevent these flaws from happening?
The plastic covers are made with a machine in a process called plastic injection moulding. In this process, molten plastic is injected into a mold where it cools off and solidifies into the CARD Spot cover shape.
While we do our best to minimize flaws in the finished product, the process of plastic injection molding can be challenging because it takes the machine some time to ‘warm up’ to the exact parameters needed to create a CARD Spot plastic cover. The small deviations in parameters like temperature and pressure when the machine first starts operating are inevitable, which means the first few covers are more likely to show superficial imperfections.
Injection moulding of plastic as thin as this (each CARD Spot cover is only 0.45mm thick!) is an especially delicate process and the slightest change in, for example, the temperature of the molten plastic or the pressure with which the machine injects it into the mold can affect its appearance.
Why don't you just recycle the plastic and use it to make new products?
The processes that the plastic goes through during the making of the CARD Spot covers affect its characteristic and make it impossible for us to repeat the process with the same plastic more than once.
In short, the specific characteristics of this type of plastic and the complexity of injection molding prevent us from using the same materials twice, as we would just end up with even more flawed covers.
Is the Perfectly Imperfect Chipolo CARD Spot faulty?
No. The interior components of the Perfectly Imperfect CARD Spot are the same ones we use in the making of our regular edition CARD Spot. The imperfections we refer to are only superficial and limited to the plastic covers that house the heart of the Chipolo CARD Spot.
You say you would otherwise discard this plastic. What does that mean?
In this case, otherwise discarded plastic refers to CARD Spot covers with visual flaws that would not be used in the production of regular edition CARD Spot wallet trackers because of their superficial irregularities.
Because they do not meet our visual standards of what a regular edition Chipolo CARD Spot wallet tracker should look like, these covers would be treated as production waste and would be sent to recycling, where they would go through the process of post-consumer plastic recycling.
Does the Perfectly Imperfect CARD Spot have the same warranty as other Chipolos?
Yes, the Perfectly Imperfect CARD Spot also comes with a 2-year warranty. The only difference between a regular edition Chipolo CARD Spot wallet tracker and the special edition Perfectly Imperfect CARD Spot is that the latter has a few visual imperfections on its plastic casings. On the inside, this special edition uses the same components as our other products and works the same way a regular CARD Spot would.
