The challenge: Making wallets smart(er) with solar-powered tracking
Ekster's challenge was unique: they wanted to integrate Chipolos firmware into a solar-powered tracker that would fit into their minimalist wallets. The challenges the Chipolo team faced were addressed at 3 different levels; engineering, design, and technology.
The tracker had to be compact enough to fit within the wallet, efficient enough to charge via solar power, and seamlessly integrated with Chipolo's existing app ecosystem.

The Chipolo team worked closely with Ekster to achieve these ambitious goals. The primary challenge was integrating Chipolo's firmware into Ekster's existing hardware, ensuring all components worked flawlessly together. The result was a first-of-its-kind product: the solar-charged Ekster Tracker Card.

The result: The Ekster Tracker Card
The Ekster Tracker Card is a card-shaped Bluetooth wallet tracker with a small solar panel so users can recharge it whenever the battery gets low. It is primarily intended for use in wallets.
The Ekster Tracker Card seamlessly integrates with the Chipolo app, giving users the option to ring their wallet tracker from their phone or vice versa, and offering additional features like Out of Range Alerts, location history, tracker sharing, and voice commands, all designed to help you find your misplaced wallet as quickly as possible.

When the Ekster Card is low on battery, the regular low battery icon is shown in the Chipolo app to inform the user their card should be recharged.
